2020 Bentley Bentayga: V8 or V12?
June 16 2020,
The Bentley Bentayga is the pinnacle of luxury SUVs. It provides drivers and passengers with a level of comfort and technology no other rival can, all wrapped in a unique package that is meant to stand out of the pack. It is available in many variants, like the Bentayga V12 and the Bentayga V8. Here are some key differences between these two.
Like the name says, the main difference between the two variants is the engine. First, the Bentayga V8 is powered by a specifically calibrated V8 engine that delivers 542 horsepower with 568 lb-ft of torque at just 1,960 rpm. This allows the Bentayga to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, and can take you to a top speed of 290 km/h. This powerplant is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The Bentayga, however, is powered by Bentley’s W12 engine that dishes out 600 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. It can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds and achieves a top speed of 301 km/h.
The W12 is equipped with the Variable Displacement technology that helps the Bentayga achieve up to 90% of its torque within 1.1 seconds. This engine is also mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The Bentayga V12 and the Bentayga V8 are offered with a suite of standard and optional equipment to satisfy the most precise needs of their buyers. For instance, the V8 can be outfitted with Bentley Dynamic Ride, which is a 48V Electronic Active Roll Control system that surgically minimizes body roll. Off-road, Bentley Dynamic Ride increases axle articulation for enhanced grip. This equipment is standard on the Bentayga V12.
Both Bentaygas are incredibly stylish, but there are a few key differences
The Bentayga V8 shares the same sleek body style as its V12-equipped sibling, but the V8 wears a black and chrome radiator matrix grille, two twin-quad tailpipes and Bentley 21ʺ wheels, among other different elements.
The Bentayga V12 let’s owners choose between 17 exterior colors in the Speed variant, while the Bentayga V8 has a 7-colour selection palette.
Inside, the Bentayga V12 gets an extensive choice of veneers, including Burr Walnut, Dark Fiddleback Eucalyptus, Dark Stained Burr Walnut or Piano Black veneer. The Bentayga V8 gets the Dark Fiddleback Eucalyptus veneer only. The headlining in the Bentayga V12 is Alcantara, while the same component in the V8 is made with Eliade.
