2020 Bentley Continental vs 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe

The Continental is reimagined to make its classic grand tourer proportions fuse into an aluminium bodyshell and a new chassis. This results in a revolutionary Bentley coupe that draws the admiration of owners, onlookers and the competition. To help illustrate how the Continental stays ahead of even the most aggressive competitors, we compare it to the 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

The 2020 Bentley Continental has exclusive power

The Continental GT and Continental GT Convertible offer a powerful Bentley W12 engine that produces 626 bhp (634 hp) and 664 lb-ft of torque. This creates an exhilarating response wherever you go - in city traffic to the mountains. The twin-turbocharged Continental GT V8 and its convertible sibling aren’t far behind in performance with 542 bhp (549 hp) and 568 lb-ft of torque.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe includes two trims, the S 560 and AMG S 63. The S 560 also features a twin-turbo eight-cylinder, but attains 463 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. This is well short of the Bentley Continental GT V8. The AMG S 63, with the same type of engine, can reach just over 600 horsepower. However, it can’t reach the quiet power of the Continental’s W12.

By default, the Continental directs power to the rear wheels in regular driving conditions. The active AWD system directs power to the front as road conditions change. This helps the Continental to maintain its performance edge and adapt as needed.

2020 Bentley Continental craftsmanship and customization

One of the unique aspects of the Continental is how you can personalize it and make it your own. It’s much tougher with large automakers such as Mercedes-Benz who focus on mass production rather than production and customization.

Bentley offers the Colour Specification, which increases the choice of hide colours from five to fifteen and introduces four elegant duo tone colour splits. There is also a wide range of stunning paint colours, alloy wheels and veneer options to choose from. This is something that you won’t find with Mercedes-Benz.

A range of options allow you to enhance both the look and the feel of your car. The Mulliner Driving Specification, Blackline Specification, City Specification and Touring all add exciting trim, technology and performance. And Bentley always considers special requests not covered by any specification.
