Work begins on first Bentley T-Series restoration
April 29 2022,
Work has begun on the very first Bentley T-Series model to roll off the Bentley assembly line in 1965. The model which was found after spending years in storage features a Shell Grey exterior paint and Blue Leather interior, and the design was the work of John Blatchley who was also responsible for the spectacular R-Type Continental.
The Bentley T-Series was first shown at the Paris Motor Show in 1965 as a replacement for the Bentley S-Type. It was a much more modern vehicle and the first Bentley to use a unitary construction with a monocoque as opposed to a separate chassis and body.
Power came from an impressive 225-horsepower 6.25 litre V8 which, if you know Bentley models, is still in use today although significantly enhanced and improved. The engine was one of the most powerful every built at the time, and the Bentley T-Series had the most horsepower per pound of any vehicle before it.
Restoration of the Bentley T-Series first started in 2016, but the work stopped for a few years. Now the process has started up again with the development of Bentley Heritage Collection, and the first-ever T-Series should soon be back up and running.
